Learning, reading, researching and teaching history can be a challenge. Let's face it, teaching American history is never going to be easy; there will always be controversial topics and difficult conversations that need to be had. But it's our responsibility to ensure that our kids are getting an accurate picture of our country's past. If our children are only exposed to a one-sided view of history, they will never learn how to think critically about what they're being told. They will also never learn how to have empathy for those who have been marginalized or oppressed throughout our country's history.
